RURAL TRANSIT: AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY

This annotated bibliography is concerned with rural transit in the United States and Canada, with some reference to Western Europe as well as the developing world. It is a complete revision of the author's earlier work of the same title and includes 173 new entries, bringing the total coverage to 422 citations. The emphasis of this bibliography is on intercity bus lines and paratransit services, though a few works on rural railroad service are included. Also included are periodicals, general works, and other bibliographies. Works on the planning and management of rural transit systems have been combined in one section as there is much overlap between these two aspects of rural transit. In addition, 136 case studies of existing rural transit systems are presented. A geographical index to cited works is also included.
