PERFORMANCE OF TWO-PLATE ENFORCEMENT WEIGHERS
A multi-plate instrument for checking vehicle weights has been installed adjacent to the a449 at ross-on-wye. A vehicle's total weight is established to within 80 kg by positioning it so that it stands on two of the plates which are each 7 metres long. A third plate 0.75 metres long, at the side of these is used to weigh vehicles exceeding 45 tonnes. This report presents the results of trials with test vehicles. A simple procedure is described for deriving both the weight of a vehicle and of its axles. (a)
