CAR FUEL CONSUMPTION: ITS RELATIONSHIP TO OFFICIAL LIST CONSUMPTIONS
Each April and October the Department of Transport publishes the fuel consumptions of new cars as measured in standard tests. These consumptions are measured in an urban driving cycle, at a steady 90 km/h, and at a steady 120 km/h. Although these figures are intended to help car buyers it is known that they are not fully-representative of real driving conditions. This study was concerned with deriving a formula to calculate on-road fuel consumptions from the standard test consumptions. (a)
