ALKALI AGGREGATE REACTION IN PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS

In this study, time-dependent strains are measured on a total of ten prestressed concrete beams, made of two types of concrete with alkali silica reactivity (asr) and a normal concrete, under an accelerated curing condition of 40 deg C and 100% rh. In addition, the creep factor for concrete in each beam is estimated analytically based on these measured strains. The fundamental structural behaviour of the beams affected by asr is investigated in comparison with those of corresponding normal beams by carrying out static loading tests with shear span to effective depth ratio of 2.5 and 4.0.
