PRESTRESSED COCNRETE RECTANGULAR BEAMS SUBJECTED TO SUSTAINED TORQUE
The paper investigates the lont-term behavior of prestressed concrete beams subjected to pure torsion. Tests on eight post-tensioned prestressed concrete beams subjected to sustained torque, together with four companion beams tested to determine the short-term torsional behavior, are reported. The anticipated final coefficient of lont-term rotation varied from 1.39 to 3.92. This coefficient was found to increase with an increasing amount of sustanied torque applied, a decreasing amount of stirrups, and an increasing amount of prestress.
