PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A TRANSIT USERS PANEL

The purpose of this paper is to offer comment and reflections based upon experience gained in the development and application of two very different panel studies in the field of travel demand analysis. These experiences will in turn be used for still another panel currently under development. The first part addresses the overriding issue of organization of panel projects in the field of travel demand analysis; the second part makes comments on a limited number of topics on which the authors have arrived at some general conclusions; and the third part reviews sampling strategies and survey instruments and discusses the three panels. There is also an Appendix.
