SCRTD INTRODUCES NEW METHANOL BUS FLEET

A fleet of 30 methanol-powered buses has been delivered to the Southern California Rapid Transit District for use in a two-year federally funded test project. This delivery represents the largest single fleet of methanol-fueled buses in the world and will be used in both regular local service and express service. The buses which are standard 40 foot buses and are of stainless steel construction, seat 43 persons, have lifts for disabled persons, air conditioning, tinted windows, large electronic destination signs, plastic-fabric, vandalism-resistant seating and anti-graffiti interior and exterior paint.
