FLEXIBLE CULVERTS IN SNOW AVALANCHE PROTECTION FOR ROADS. NRRL REPORT SUMMARY

Snow avalanches present a great hazard to road traffic in many parts of the world. Protective measures are expensive and the construction period is often longer than the summer season dividing the construction period into a few months each year. This also increases construction cost. By using flexible steel culverts and adopting a tailormade design, the cost can be considerably reduced. Short construction time also makes it possible to complete the structure during the summer period.
