HOW TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR TIRES
For most fleets, tires are the second-largest maintenance expense. Proper tire maintenance offers great potential for reducing fleet operating costs because in most cases it has not received enough emphasis. First, there should be a separate budget or budget category for tire maintenance. Next, proper maintenance procedures should be set up. Procedures should include proper mounting or demounting of tires, air pressure check, and a check of the alignment and parallelism of the axles. Tire manufacturers can assist in doing a fleet survey and reporting on the condition of the fleet.
