DETERMINATION OF BASIC CAPACITY OF AN UNINTERUPTED FLOW HIGHWAY IN THAILAND
The basic highway capacity currently adopted in Thailand is 200 passenger cars/h/lane, which is in line with U.S. Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) recommendations (TRB, 1985). However, as the vehicle mix and driving habits in Thailand differ greatly from those in the U.S., it is possible that this recommended value of basic highway capacity may be inappropriate for use in Thailand. This note describes a study undertaken to examine what value of basic highway capacity may be appropriate.
