THE DAMAGE MECHANICS APPROACH TO THE ANALYSIS OF AN UNDERGROUND OPENING EXCAVATED IN A JOINTED ROCK MASS. LARGE ROCK CAVERNS - PROCEEDINGS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM, HELSINKI, FINLAND, 25-28 AUGUST 1986. VOLUME 2
In this paper, a relatively new continuum model for jointed rock mass, called damage model, is applied to the underground opening problem. The finite element analysis, incorporating the damage model, is presented to discuss the applicability of this model to the engineering practice. For the covering abstract of the symposium see IRRD 810647. (Author/TRRL)
