ROCK EXCAVATION FOR A MAJOR UNDERGROUND CAVERN IN HONG KONG
A large cavern was excavated in the granite on Hong Kong island to form a station on the Island Line of the Mass Transit Railway. The construction sequence, support, environmental restraints and methods used to monitor cavern stability are described.
