THE KIRUMI BRIDGE - A CABLE STAYED BRIDGE IN A REMOTE AREA
This paper presents a composite steel/concrete cable stayed bridge constructed in Tanzania across a river with extensive growth of papyrus. The design focused on prefabrication and simple erection of light elements with in situ casting of the concrete. The bridge is in 3 spans, main span 104.3 m. Substructures are on piled foundations.
