DEVELOPMENT OF ULTRA INDUCTION COIL FOR MAGNETICALLY FLOATED TRAIN
The article traces the background, development, and present status of the ultra induction coil to float and propel trains. The initiation, improvement, and the direction of the present research are outlined. The structures of ultra induction coils from the prototype to the present one are illustrated. At present, four types, including a scaled down version of ultra induction coils, are produced. Specifications for each coil are given. Coils are tested to check their characteristics and performances and test results and some observations of the test process are given. The coils are mounted on a test train on the Miyazaki Experimental Line to improve performance.
