COMBINATION RESONANCE OF TWO-ROTOR COMPASS
The effect of energy dissipation on the stability of a two-rotor gyrocompass is examined for case of a parametric combination resonance. It is assumed that the gyrocompass possesses no properties of a spatial gyrohorizon compass. A ship's maneuver is considered which consists of two successive half-circles separated by time periods during which the ship follows a straight course. Instability regions are constructed in first approximation for cases of combination parametric resonance without energy dissipation, and with dissipation causing a widening of the instability region. A numerical example illustrates potential hazard of the combination resonance to the stability of the gyrocompass. In Russian.
