DESIGN OF BOX GIRDER BRIDGES

This report reviews progress in the design of box girder bridges and gives clear recommendation wherever possible on preferred methods of design. All phases of design are considered, from initial sizing through to final design and detailing. Points of particular significance are covered in the detailed references appended. The following particular aspects of box girder design are considered: dead and live loading, methods of analysis, miscellaneous points on live load analysis, differential temperatures, prestressing, working stress design, overload and ultimate load, cable layout, duct curvature problems, construction joints, anchor blocks, formwork and falsework, concrete, erection and qrouting. /TRRL/
