FURTHER MODERNISATION OF THAMES NAVIGATION SERVICE
The Thames Navigation Service was initiated in 1959 and comprises a complex of VHF radio facilities, remote reading tide gages, radars and microwave link equipment. Initiated in four separate stages with the object of spreading development over a number of years, the equipment for Stage III has now been installed and is fully operational. Details are given for the equipment installed, methods of operation, utilization of the service, and future plans.
