Details are given of the work conducted by the "comite permanent des laitiers" to study the variations in quality in various factories. To ensure a certain level of quality, each batch of slag produced for road construction purposes has to be controlled by the regional laboratory of the "ponts et chaussees" designated by the setra. The control is conducted before despatching the slag and consists of the measurement of the alpha coefficient of the inert matter content, and of the moisture content. The first part of the report gives details of the manufacture and delivery of slag in 1972 per region and of the types of slag. The second part deals with the quality of granulated slag and reviews the alpha granulated slag 20/40 (class 2), the alpha granulated slag 40/60 (class 3). Mention is made of the fact that for class 3, the moisture content is too high on delivery. Part 3 lists the regional laboratories designated to carry out the control of the slag together with the factories which have the task of getting in touch with the laboratories. The conclusion mentions the fact that production and delivery of granulated slag have reached the same level as the previous year. /TRRL/
