A complete geometric and analytical study is made of transition curves, and tables and charts are presented for solving practical problems of intersection and transition. There exist two techniques (the european and the American technique) of using transition curves, the respective intrinsic equations of which are given: (r-r) 1=k and lr=k, where r = the radius of curvature, l = the arc, r = the radius of the asymptote circle, 1 = the distance from the origin of the inflection point, and k = a constant.
