GETTING THE MOST ON A MODEST BUDGET--SANTA CLARA COUNTY TRANSIT DISTRICT LRV MAINTENANCE FACILITY

The Santa Clara County Transit District Guadalupe Corridor Light Rail Project is the longest new rail transit line to be built in 50 years in the United States. This project includes a facility that wil house all vehicle and system maintenance and repair, parts storage, operations, and administrative functions. Because a modest budget was established for the facility, the planning and design process required following the most cost-effective approach. The various components of the facility are discussed and the cost conscious procedure that was followed in its development is detailed. (Author)
