EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF NAVAL ARCHITECTS
The present situation in education of naval architecture in Great Britain is summarized, with data on minimum academic qualifications required, universities offering courses, curricula, and numbers of students. The content of undergraduate courses is examined from the viewpoint of relative emphasis on theory and practice. Industry needs in engineering development, structural design and production are discussed. A proposal is made for a 5 yr integrated course which would make maximum use of existing facilities in the universities, outlining the major activities of each year.
