MAINTENANCE OF TRANSIT VEHICLES: THE EXAMPLE OF THE MUNICH PUBLIC TRANSPORT AUTHORITY
The strategy of preventive maintenance as practised by the public transport authorities is based on a high percentage of work that can be planned in advance. This ensures a uniform utilization of the existing workshop capacities and troublefree operations. To implement the maintenance activities, electronic data processing is being used to an ever-increasing extent for planning and controlling the work. Electronic means are also employed for research in the fields of failure analysis and wear phenomena. This paper outlines the implementation of the maintenance activities on the buses and underground stock of the Munich Public Transport Authority.
