ESTIMATION OF FATIGUE CRACK GROWTH BY ULTRASONIC IMAGING METHOD
For a partially penetrated corner joint, estimations of the fatigue crack size and the crack growth behavior are investigated using the ultrasonic imaging method. Experimental results have shown that an approximate estimation of the crack size is possible based on its relation to the ultrasonic defect image, and that the crack growth behavior can be estimated with reasonable accuracy from the increase of defect image size.
