CONTROL TECHNOLOGY IN LOCAL TRAFFIC SYSTEMS. CENTRAL OPERATIONAL DIRECTING STATION OF THE TRANSPORT ENTERPRISES OF COLOGNE, WEST GERMANY
LEITTECHNIK BEI NAHVERKEHRSBETRIEBEN: DIE ZENTRALE BETRIEBSLEITSTELLE DER KOELNER VERKEHRS-BETRIEBE AG
The Transport Enterprises of Cologne have centralized all supervising equipment and control facilities which are necessary for the operational control of an interurban traffic enterprise in a central operational direction station. The traction power supply, the stop supervision, the protection of train running information for passengers and the wireless telephone traffic have been united. Four years of operation have shown that the results are a remarkable reduction in staff, effective operating management and quick correction of operating irregularities. For the future the utilization of a computer aided operational directing system is planned.
