CENTRAL SUBSTATION KARLSRUHE WEST GERMANY. A MILESTONE IN THE HISTORY OF RAILROAD POWER SUPPLY
DIE ZENTRALSCHALTSTELLE KARLSRUHE. EIN MEILENSTEIN IN DER GESCHICHTE DER BAHNSTROMVERSORGUNG
For centralization, increase of the supply reliability and reduction of staff, a computer-controlled central substation for the operation of the 15-kv-overhead system network has been installed at Karlsruhe. The remote-controlled area will comprise in the final stage 15 substations, 3 sectioning points, 7 paralleling points and 250 stations with 4000 switches. The hardware is formed, among others, by a process data processor with simplex configuration. The software includes operating system, utility programs and user programs. Routine switching actions are predominantly automated. The switching is realized by monitor control but a mosaic switchboard serves as fall back installation.
