THE INFLUENCE OF THE LOOP ANGLE ON THE GEOMETRICAL PARAMETERS OF WHEEL-RAIL CONTACT
INFLUENCIA DEL ANGULO DE LAZO SOBRE LOS PARAMETROS GEOMETRICOS DE CONTACTO RUEDA-CARRIL
It is essential to know the kinetic restrictions imposed on the movement of the wheelset by the geometry of wheel-rail contact, before an accurate study can be made of the dynamic behaviour of railway vehicles and the problems involved in such behaviour. Most research workers in this field approach the problem without taking into account the influence of the rotation of the loop on the geometric parameters of contact. This article examines this influence and shows the limits of validity of the simplifying hypotheses. It also contains a comparative study of the profiles of the wheels most widely used at present by the RENFE, the ORE S 1002 profile and the UIC DT-14.
