START OF THE OPERATION OF THE MAGNETIC LEVITATION LINE IN BIRMINGHAM
BETRIEBSAUFNAHME DER MAGNETSCHWEBEBAHN BIRMINGHAM
Intensive tests are reported of a 620-m long magnetic levitation line which connects the Birmingham (England) airport terminal with the railroad station. This line, which was inaugurated on April 1, 1984, is claimed to be the first commercially operated magnetic suspension line in the world. The vehicles, control, regulation, energy consumption and maintenance are discussed.
