FACTORS AFFECTING THE CONDITION AND LEVEL OF SERVICE OF ROADS
TEIDEN KUNTOON JA PALVELUTASOON VAIKUTTAVIA TEKIJOITA
In order to observe the condition and level of service of the road network an observation network was set up in 1979 containing various types of roads in different parts of the country. Information has been collected from these roads about evenness, damage, bearing capacity values and rut depths. Driving comfort has also been assessed and the depth of frost has been measured. The article deals with the results from the point of view of level of service. Various level of service models have been tested and the relationship between level of service and the condition of the road has been examined. A method is given by which the remaining age of the road can be estimated so that the minimum level of service is not reached. (TRRL)
