SNAIL BEATS SUBWAY
The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (MTA) K line connector, the East River tunnel, will run between 21st Street and Queens Plaza in Long Island. The 520-foot subway will take 8 years to build. That is, it will be built at a rate of 65 feet a year. This pace of construction, it is claimed, is slower than that of the snail. The fastest snail is able to attain a speed of 8 inches a minute, i.e., 960 feet a day. The financing for the East River tunnel has now been put on hold.
