CRUMBLING CONCRETE
The article briefly describes the Anodeflex method of preventing the salt corrosion of concrete steel reinforcement by using a system of cathodic protection. Developed by Raychem, the system uses a long--line, wire--like, anode of conductive polymer coated onto a cooper conductor of impressed current. The flexible system can be wrapped inside or outside a structural member or matted in an open-weave braid for over-laying an area. The system is being used in a number of test situations in North America applied to concrete bridges, parking garages, marine structures and buildings. (TRRL)
