CONSEQUENCES FOR TRAFFIC FLOW DURING A TEMPORARY ROAD-BLOCK (I)

GEVOLGEN VOOR DE VERKEERSAFWIKKELING VAN EEN TIJDELIJKE RIJSTROOKBLOKKERING (I)

A temporary road-block causes problems not only for the road user but also for the highway administrator. The Delft University of Technology had developed a mathematical method by which some effects of a temporary road-block on an undivided road can be calculated. For the evaluation of this method and to determine some parameters, a number of observations were carried out at a location where the traffic flow was interrupted regularly. In the first part of the study the theoretical aspects are mentioned, the location and the data acquisition are described, and results of the analysis are presented. (For Part II see TRIS 451929).
