A survey of the members of the Institute of Traffic Engineers to determine the safety impact of daylight savings time showed that 50 per cent of those responding to the questionnaire favored and encouraged DST again this winter. The survey was made by Potter Industries, Inc. Only 37 per cent did not want to see it repeated and 13 per cent had no opinion. The survey also showed that energy conservation gains with DST were negligible, that school-age children are the biggest driving-in-dark hazard and that the fuel crisis covers up a potential increase in the morning accident/ fatality rate.
