CURRENT ISSUES IN TRANSPORTATION

This issue is a Symposium on Current Issues in Transportation Policy, providing a sampling of the kinds of policy research currently being produced in this field and of key issues of concern to transportation policy analysts. The contributions are organized into three categories. Comparative Perspectives contains Urban Transportation and Political Idealogy: Sweden and the United States, and Air Transportation Infrastructure as a Problem of Public Policy. The second section, Central Issues in U.S. Transportation, Transportation and the Environment, and Economic Regulations: The Case of Aviation. The Promotion and Appraisal of Innovation, the third category, consists of Public Policy and Transportation Innovation: The Role of Demonstration, and The Communications/Transportation Tradeoff. Comments from the Field contains Determinants of Public Policy: Cities, States, Nations; Government Policy Toward Handicapped Individuals; and Policy Analysis on Capitol Hill: Issues Facing the Four Analytic Support Agencies of Congress. A Literature Review contains Setting National Prtiorities: A Review Essay, Recent Relevant Literature, Book Notes, The Pros and Cons of Systems Analysis in Policy Studies, and a Bibliography of Specific Problem Areas Within Policy Studies.
