THE INTRODUCTION OF NUMERICAL METHODS IN A SMALL SHIPYARD
Renovation of a shipyard, with the installation of a numerically controlled flame cutting equipment and other computer controlled and assisted apparatus is presented and the type of computer equipment selected, with reasons given for its selection. The introduction and implementation of the computer system is described, with the training and information, hardware and software management, and planning problems explained. The actual flame cutting equipment and a cost comparison between the old method of flame cutting and the new numerically controlled method is also discussed.
