A STUDY OF WORK TRIP LINKAGES PATTERN IN URBAN KUWAIT USING CONTINGENCY TABLE ANALYSIS
This paper applies log-linear models of contingency tables originally developed in the mathematical statistical literature and the analysis of work trip linkages in urban areas with particular reference to conditions in Kuwait. Two aspects are emphasised. The first relates to exploring certain urban travel features in Kuwait through interpretation of parameters of a saturated log-linear model fitted to a trip account table compiled from an origin-destination survey. Further, specifications for the level of disaggregation to be maintained while modelling future travel demands are proposed based on assessment of less-saturated models. (Author/TRRL)
