TRUCK COMMODITY SURVEY FINDINGS. STATEN ISLAND BRIDGES
This survey was made as part of the on-going analysis of the Trans-Hudson Network and Staten Island Bridges. The information on eastbound truck traffic collected during the survey is being used to develop strategies for alleviating peak period congestion and facilitating freight movement in the New York-New Jersey region. The findings for the 3 Staten Island bridges (Goethals Bridge, Outerbridge, Bayonne Bridge) and the Verrazano Narrows Bridge are described. The findings relate to truck traffic trends, overall survey findings, peak period data, and commodity patterns. Several charts are presented as well as tabulated data. An appendix presents further details on truck traffic trends for 1974-1984, origin-destination trends (l972-1985), and the survey methodology.
