LIFE-CYCLE ANALYSIS FOR PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT DECISION MAKING. LCC1 MICROCOMPUTER PROGRAM USER'S MANUAL

This User's Manual of the LCC1 microcomputer program has been designed to assist its users in utilizing it as a tool for life-cycle analysis of Pennsylvania pavements. The life-cycle methodology used in this program has been presented in detail in the final report (FHWA-PA-85-028). The LCC1 program is primarily a tool for comprehensive economic evaluation of competing design alternatives provided by the users. The input data entry and manipulation is handled by subprograms written in user-friendly BASIC language. The LCC1 program is unique for the flexibility and options it offers to its users. It creates and saves multiple input files, provides default data, manipulates input data without going through an entire session, offers seven available optimization options for rank ordering the strategies, and considers multiple maintenance and rehabilitation treatments. The economic evaluation and rank ordering of design strategies supplied by its users are performed by subprograms which are coded in FORTRAN 77. This manual is intended to make users of the LCC1 program familiar with its capabilities and operation, file structure, input data requirements, input data file manipulation, output, and program execution. Several different economic scenarios can be considered by the LCC1 program such as varying analysis periods, ignoring inflation, using different interest rates, and ignoring user costs. Examples of input data entry and outputs of the LCC1 program are also included in this report.
