BLACK COMMUTING IN PRETORIA: ATTITUDES TOWARDS DRIVERS AND INSPECTORS. SPECIAL REPORT
The Pretoria black commuting study questioned 1045 commuters about driver and inspector behaviour and seven other attributes of the transport system. Although many commuters were satisfied with the drivers and inspectors on the buses and trains, some forms of behaviour unacceptable to travellers were evident. The passengers' main complaint was that bus inspectors did not provide additional transport when it was needed. Lack of courtesy, an inconsiderate attitude towards commuter problems, unpunctuality, thoughtless or unsafe boarding and alighting procedures, and route-changing by bus drivers, were quite widely cited.
