INDICATORS FOR PARKING PROVISIONS
KENCIJFERS VOOR PARKEERVOORZIENINGEN
Several planning aspects play an important role in realising parking facilities. Parking standards are the most well-known as far as these aspects are concerned. Some of these standards are calculated in a theoretical way; others are based on empirical traffic surveys. In that case the question arises to what extent these figures can be used for cities other than the one whose traffic situation was studied. In this SVT-report parking standards for a large number of various situations are presented. Furthermore information is given about the way in which these parking standards change under the influence of such planning aspects as accessibility, the quality of public transport, the location of the parking facilities and the way they fit in with the environment. The information which has been gathered is the result of an extensive literature study. Not only has this literature study provided a large amount of relevant information, but it has also shown that many new aspects deserve attention.(a)
