EFFECT OF SILICONES ON HOT-MIX ASPHALT PAVEMENTS
The use of Dow Corning 200 Fluid Silicone (DC-200) in asphalt cement in the concentrations normally used, 1 oz. of DC-200 per 5000 gallons of asphalt cement, produces amazing beneficial results during the manufacture and laydown of hot-mix asphalt pavements. The DC-200 has no detrimental effect on the asphalt or the mix and in some cases may improve resistance of ravelling. Large dosages of DC-200 should be avoided as the mix may be soft and tender.
