ELECTRICAL SAFETY IN TANKERS

Describes current thinking on the subject of dangerous spaces in tankers and on the installation of electrical equipment in such spaces. Some of the problems associated with current practices are described. The petro-chemical industry faces similar problems and a brief description of electrical safety practices in that industry is given. A comparison is made regarding the differences between the practices in the tanker industry and the petro-chemical industry. The subject of static electricity has not been dealt with in this paper.
