MEASUREMENT OF IMPACT ENERGIES ON FENDERS
Report of the results from meansurements of impact energies on fenders from 750 berthing meanuvers at three oil piers in Denmark. In summing up the results the author suggests that some of the statistical variations are caused by the human element. He adds that the results indicate that it is possible to obtain information about fender loads necessary to form a rational basis fender and pier design, but points out that this study only covers what are regarded as medium-size ships by modern standards.
