SHIP STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND INTERACTIVE GRAPHICS. PART 1
This article discusses finite element analysis and design procedures for ship structures at Lloyd's Register of Shipping which have been integrated in a system known as LR SAFE (Ship Analysis using Finite Elements). In this article, a description is given with particular respect to the systems' automatic data generation. The reasons for automatic data generation are explained, how this is accomplished is discussed, and the various inputs into the data bank are also described. A sample flow diagram is also given and discussed, and future developments are also described.
