MODELLING THE MOVEMENT OF VEHICLES IN PARKING FACILITIES
This paper describes a model that simulates the movements of vehicles through a parking facility. The model's main application is to compare parking lot layouts to determine the most appropriate for a site. The model is still in the early state of development and requires a number of further developments before the model can reach its full potential. The first is the development of a computer graphics capability. This will aid in the verification of the model as well as enabling the designer to gain an idea of the workings of the facility. The second is the validation of the model using data from existing facilities. (Author/TRRL)
