Combining excellent utility and efficiency with a highly aesthetic design which was specially planned for its residential area location, the new Queens Village Bus Depot of the New York City Transit Authority functions as an operating garage and maintenance center for all but major component rebuild and replacement for its 246 buses. Operation of this facility is detailed, with a description of the general layout and procedure. The well planned stocking system which is used in all the NYCTA shops simplifies the job of stocking parts and locating needed items. One feature of this system is its perpetual inventory of parts through continuous monitoring. The garage's exhaust removal capacity is 450 cubic feet 12.6 cubic meters per minute and temperature in the storage area is 60 degrees F. /DOT/
