AMBIENT SOUND LEVEL STUDIES IN SUBURBAN AND RURAL AREAS

Suburban and rural locations are increasingly being selected for large industrial facilities whose potential community noise impact must be assessed. This paper discusses the methodology employed to describe the sound environment at two proposed sites which border on a large body of water in the northeastern U.S. Sound level data from these suburban and rural sites are then presented and discussed.
