CUMBRIA COUNTY COUNCIL PUBLIC TRANSPORT PLAN 1985/86

After examining the factors affecting the requirements for transport and use of public transport, and passenger trends, the author outlines the resources available. Details are given of (1) the rail services (the network, Sunday and tourist services), travelling conditions, stations and marketing; (2) bus operations (bus operators and operating conditions), level of service, urban and rural services, fares; (3) ferries and air services, fares. A study is carried out of the co-ordination of services: bus/rail competition and bus/rail connections. Finally, mention is made of the procedure adopted for the review of services. (TRRL)
