MODEL TESTS ON THE FUNDAMENTALS OF MARINE PROPELLER STRESSES
An experimental study on the stresses in the blades of Marine Propellers due to centrifugal forces and hydrodynamically generated steady and unsteady loadings is presented. The fundamental relations between the propeller blade stresses and the conditions of propeller loading, propeller speed and ship speed were verified by means of model experiments. According to the general laws of similarity, extrapolation factors are derived for the prediction of the stresses to be expected at full size.
