CALCULATION OF FOUNDATIONS OF PRECISION EQUIPMENT FOR VIBRATIONS

A method is presented of a calculating the vibrations of foundations of precision equipment, which involves the determination of the expected amplitude of vibrations and its comparison with the permissible magnitudes. Details are given of the approximate estimation of the parameters of the permissible oscillations of the foundation and machine. Data on the vibration conditions of the area planned for the installation of the precision equipment, was obtained by use of a portable low-frequency vibrograph with galvanometric recording. The calculations involved the determination of the resonance amplitudes of vibrations of the foundation over the entire range of the curve of spectral distribution of vibrations. Formulae are presented for the determination of vertical vibrations and horizontal resonance amplitudes. The obtained values are most conveniently compared with their permissible values, by plotting on a curve the permissible parameters of vibrations for equipment planned for installation. The figure is then divided into 4 parts each of which is a region of probable values for a certain type of foundation. The boundaries of each region are determined by the probable range of natural frequencies for a given type of foundation. The minimal magnitude of the safety factor may be determined similarily. The opinion is expressed that the safety factor should be no less than 2.5 - 3.0.
