SOME SHIP SYSTEMS CONCEPTS FOR 1980'S
Several water transportation concepts that might prove useful in the future are discussed in general terms. Some have already been developed and others are in the exploratory stage. They are--the barge carrying ship; transocean tug-barges (surface tows and subsurface tows); high speed displacement ships; roll-on/roll-off ships/sea sheds (super containers); surface effect ships; integrated bulkers; waterborne feeder systems; and floating terminals.
